The Income Gap Today

Though things have been improving, there still exists a sizable gap between the average incomes of men and women. The northeastern states have the largest disparity: in Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and New Jersey, the mean income of men outstrips the mean income of women by at least $20,000. Connecticut has the worst disparity in the nation with a mean income difference of $28,921.
